The theme for this month for the Creative Every Day Challenge is “new.” Creating a still life is certainly something new for me. I generally don’t do them because they require focusing on objects for prolonged periods of time that I usually don’t have. However, the theme for an art show that I’m hoping to get into inspired me to at least try one. This is a pastel, ink, pencil drawing on paper, 18 x 24, that I made using a referral photo that I shot. I spent time working on it during my son’s basketball practice session Friday night and this weekend in little spurts. Originally, I thought I would cut it up into pieces to play around with the structure of it. But the more I looked at it, the more I liked it as a whole. So, here it is, something new, “Sweet and Sour.”
Something new: A still life

Ah, thanks so much!
Stunning! The way you shaped the bowl with the shading – WOW! All those vibrant colors in the bowl and in the tablecloth!

This is a great still life and you have done such an amazing job for something that is new to you… you would never guess you weren’t an old hand… I love still life painting and drawing so much and hope you do some more… xx
Thanks for the great compliment, Tracey. I need the encouragement. Take care.
Hi Sandy your still life is so alive with colours and shine, full of zest, love it!
Hi, Katrina, thanks for the comment. And, actually, your words give me an idea for renaming the painting “Zest.”
Looks great! I love the vibrant colours!
Thanks.
